Utopia Park - the central, eponymous setting of the film - is the real-life trailer park where I grew up. As an adult, I find Utopia Park to have an eerie, almost supernatural charge - something I hoped to tap into with this movie.
This film is also an homage to my dad. When I was a kid, my dad would bring me to work with him in the basements and boiler rooms explored in this movie. I love these spaces, and I am grateful that he shared them with me.
